Postdoctoral Fellowship: Effects of Aging on Hematopoiesis/Lymphopoiesis

David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
Los Angeles, CA

A post-doctoral fellowship is available to study the effects of aging on the hematopoietic system. A particular focus of this work is to determine how the age-associated increase in the production of inflammatory cytokines contributes to increased myelopoiesis and decreased lymphopoiesis. In addition to defining the stages of hematopoiesis on which specific inflammatory cytokines, act, genetic and pharmacologic models will be used to determine the contribution of bone marrow adipose tissue to inflammatory cytokine production. Interested individuals will have the opportunity to develop expertise in hematopoiesis and skills in flow cytometry and the manipulation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells in vitro and in vivo. Previous training in hematopoiesis, immunology, and/or adipocyte biology is desirable.

Interested individuals should submit a curriculum vitae, along with the names of 3 references, via e-mail to:
